The Bookshelf is my gift to you. On Instagram, every first of the month, I share with you a book that reminds you how to look, gets you in touch with your creativity. These are not just books for artists, nor people who love art. They are books for people that want to learn to look, whether it's at veggies in the grocery store, or other people's body language. They are books that give you the permission to enjoy the mystery, embrace the curiosity and dive in deep. It is in this mystery that the best ideas come about. With that being said, book seventeen on The Bookshelf is..
The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, by Julia Cameron
"The Artist's Way" has been recommended to me many times before, and finally I will be reading it for the first month. This book by Julia Cameron is a classic and dearly loved by many.
Guided by exercises and explorations, Cameron guides the reader in identifying ways in which their 'creative flow' is restricted with the aim to move past that restriction and not only achieve creative satisfaction but also self discovery.
Remember Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of "Big Magic," the fourteenth book on The Bookshelf? Well, she claims that without "The Artist's Way" there would be none of her work. And that's a big claim to make.
I cannot wait to dive into this book and the ideas in it, as well as do the exercises. I will share my experience with you further on Instagram. Go follow there to keep up.
