Next to the episodes on the Back to the Drawing Board podcast, there exists The Bookshelf.
The Bookshelf is my gift to you. On Instagram, every first of the month, I share with you a book that reminds you how to look, gets you in touch with your creativity. These are not just books for artists, nor people who love art. They are books for people that want to learn to look, whether it's at veggies in the grocery store, or other people's body language. They are books that give you the permission to enjoy the mystery, embrace the curiosity and dive in deep. It is in this mystery that the best ideas come about. With that being said, book seven on The Bookshelf is..
Palette Perfect: Color Combinations Inspired by Fashion, Art, Style, by Lauren Wager
Besides the fact that I love color, this book is so inspiring to flip through! It not only provides more color combinations than you could ever need, but it also sorts them by the mood or atmosphere that they arouse. Wager even shows the inspirations of the palettes, such as a piece of art or a photo of landscape (and this means that you can do that same with your own piece of art or photo!). Besides the obvious eye candy in this book it is also an invaluable resource for any project you have going that needs a bit more of a spark (from a design project at work, to deciding how to decorate your wall at home).
Containing color palettes from images, this book is like a color palette generator to be used for your home, clothes or graphic design. You'll be left with a lot of color palette ideas with this color palette book!
If you too love color and are interested in the effects it has on the human brain and how you can use it in your environment, then I recommend episode 35 about Feng Shui! Rodika Tchi gives me all the details and I recorded it so you could listen too!
